EIGHTH ANNUAL OUCHOFEST TO FULLY EMBRACE FUN WITH ROCK MUSIC, HUMAN-SIZED GRILL
Annual Chicago Rock and Roll Cookout Will Feature 10 bands, meat.
CHICAGO, IL, October 6, 2006 – The Eighth Annual OuchoFest, a day-long rock show and cookout, will once again take over Chicago’s The Mutiny - a Chicago staple for live music.
This event, featuring multiple bands, free food (and open grill) and free pool, and multitudes of cheap drinks, is the latest incarnation of an annual series of music showcases that have been highlighting regional performance groups. Curated and sponsored by Pensamplivox Records (PVX) since 1998, the mission statement of the festival can be neatly summed up in the immortal words of Spinal Tap’s Viv Savage: "Have... a good time... all of the time."
Each previous OuchoFest has featured no less than eight musical acts, with packed houses nominally guaranteed since Year Five, and would certainly be at a loss without the kind partnership of The Mutiny (2428 N Western). A classic & charming dive bar and performance venue, The Mutiny has been home to many fledgling Chicago bands and Logan’s Square mini-pitcher drinkers. The Mutiny’s enormous free-standing grill is a prominent feature of the event, with space to accommodate any specialized meat or non-meat dietary restrictions throughout the day.
This year’s OuchoFest is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2006. Grilling will start after 5PM, and will feature musical performances by the following groups:
::LAST::
Bearhawk
CornFed
.22
*joesepi*
Love Story In Blood Red
Stanley Ross
BooKoos
Wishek
Plan B
The Iron Catastrophe
::FIRST::
Eight of the bands are Chicago-based, while .22 (Idaho/Chicago) and Wishek (Michigan) have significant ties to The Windy City.

The old pvx gallery has been restored. It had been down for a long
time (years maybe) after some trouble on the server. It is back up,
albeit slightly out of order and without all the comments and whatnot.
Still, you can find photos from previous OUCHO fests and recording
sessions and all sorts of other great events (see the infamous hammock
crash at Cronin's BBQ).

Also, there is a gallery on the joesepi.com site now too. There are
some show photos as well as just regular old photos of
semi-interesting things like trees and tractors, dogs and toilets,
things of that nature.

That's right, we are playing THIS FRIDAY at the Subterranean Lounge

System and Station took a little break from rock, but they are back on
the scent of success and on tour tracking it down.

D has facilitated a few sessions of the boys and more doing songs from
the reportoire. These are uncommon songs and most have not been
included in any live Bearhawk sets, but have been floating around the
haze that is the collective Bearhawk mind. With more instumentation
and a special attention to detail, scope and sound, this session will
prove to be a sonic surprise to friends and enemies alike.

Ok, I don't know how to relay the impact of this news but here goes.
*joesepi* has a band.
A band of his own to play the vast back catalogue of material as well
as the new songs that have been being worked out through sessions up
at Reelsounds and all over the country.
Here's the lineup:
Nate S. - Drums
Mike J. - Bass
Bill S. - More Guitar
AJ S. - Keyboards
Yes, you read that right... Keyboards!
It's going to be a rip-roaring good time. And it's not just a one-off
show, this outfit means business and we are in it to win it.

7th Annual OuchoFest Saturday October 8th 2005
The 7th Annual OuchoFest is prime example of why Chicago is good for
music. A full evening of cooking out, drinks, and showcasing
Chicago's promising local bands.
Started in 1998 by friends and bandmates as a good old time, OuchoFest
has grown into one of the Chicago music scene's best kept secrets,
with attendance at capacity for the last three years running.
Only two factors are necessary: the party is held on whichever
non-winter month features the 8th on a Saturday, and Mutiny owner Ed
(last name here)'s magical Polish cooked on a VW Beetle-sized grill.
This year's show should prove to be no exception with stellar local
bands including Bearhawk, Cornfed, The BooKoos, The Georges, Cats &
Jammers, The eFFing Stars, Church of the Furious and MotorPsycho Mic
& the Buddha Band.
In addition, OuchoFest 2005 will be dedicated to our dear friends and
musical compatriots Doug Meis, John Glick, and Michael Dahlquist.
Donations will be heavily solicited, and all contributions will be
distributed to their appropriate beneficiary causes. Please visit

The event, dubbed the Acoustic Church because of the format and
setting (an old pentacostal church), will show musicians, who are
typically bolstered by loud amps and drums, in an intimate and bare
fashion. A semi-regular event showcasing artists in rock bands from
around Chicago, the midwest and the nation, the Acoustic Church gives
these artists a chance to perform acoustic- solo, as a duo or with a
small group. Culling a list of names from popular bands around town as
well as touring musicians looking to add an eclectic date to their
schedule, we hope to create an outlet for songwriting musicians as
well as an alternative to the typical rock club experience.

All right people. The show went well. In case you missed it, or if I forgot to put in the news page (which I did, forget that is) Hoghead McDunna's played host to some pVx bands as well as a hole bag of Shure folks. Real good time. Featuring Hack, the world's best grunge cover band; D'Illustrio, Chicago's best non-grunge, non-cover band; Century Rocket Building, a band for sure; and Cornfed, the best thing you never expected.
We have been playing with a fella on drums and his name is Joe. Fitting, isn't it?
10:19:04
Hey peeps.
We have updated the pvx site. Here are the details:
The photo gallery has been moved to our new server (update any bookmarks if necessary) and has been updated with 6 new 'albums'. Stuff from the D'Illustrio's recording sesson at Reelsounds and some shows and even some GasMasK images.
see it:
http://pvxrecords.com/gallery
We have been throwing words around on our newly created weblog (that's long for blog for those who don't know). These are just consonants and vowels that sounds nice together. You might enjoy them too.
read it:
http://pvxrecords.com/blog
And as we have promised in the past, a page was created for all the music and all the video on the site. So now our patrons and visitors can see all the media up there in one place (well, two places that is). Anything to make your lives easier.
go there:
http://pvxrecords.com/mp3
http://pvxrecords.com/video
And as you may have noticed, we have made it so that you can visit us at both pensamplivox.com as well as pvxrecords.com. Just another way to show we care.
You will also notice at the site, we have added all these items in an extra navigation center.
go look:
http://pvxrecords.com
Also of note, we are going to move this list to our new server soon too. So you might get an email alerting you of this when it happens.
Thanks for reading. Go spend some time.

Hey kids. More show.
D'Illustrio is proud to be a part of one of the fabulous performances put on by none other than Flabby Hoffman.
I am not sure of the line-up for the evenings events, but I am told we will be performing at 10:30.

Flabby is great. check out his website.
Speaking of websites, we will be updating ours soon with a slew of new pics from shows of late.
And if you have any good band names, we are still undecided about D'Illustrio. Any ideas or opinions? I am personally leaning towards Emulate Harris. Someone still wants to call it SuperPoop.
Thanks, that is all.

Hey, funny story...
Quencher's got their capacity raised to 208 which is great, but a club with a capacity over 99 requires a different license. So Quencher's is unable to have shows until they get said license probably putting them out for at least a month or two.
Steve, the man down there, has gotten the show (w/ System and Station) moved to The Pontiac at Damen and North by the blue line el stop. This is going to work just fine now. We have rounded out the bill with some acoustic performers including myself, Eric Mahle (from The Decibators), Century Rocket Building and more.
The show will begin around 9 and will be free. The food is good at the Pontiac, so come hungry as well as thirsty.
System and Station w/ Century Rocket Building, Eric Mahle, Joe Sepi and more. 9pm :: FREE Monday July 26 004
Thanks...
06:21:04
I am sending a message to announce System and Station on tour and in town. They will be in Chicago on Monday, July 26th and will be performing at Quencher's (western and fullerton) around midnight.
We, Century Rocket Building were going to play with them, but the show S&S had booked fell through due to some unfortunate soap dropping incident.
So they are playing Quencher's after Indie Rock Open Mic. I visit the IROM at Quencher's regularly and recommend it on any monday night. But if you were going to pick a night, this would be the bonus night. First some local talent singing with their guitars and whatnot (i will definitely perform, maybe other CRB members will join me) and then around midnight or so - System and Station full band powerhouse. (note: Quencher's should have their unreasonable low capacity limit lifted this week, so come and celebrate with them on monday.)
You can learn more about these great guys at their website and if you are not in Chicago, you can see when they are visiting you.
